MASon Digital Handbook

The digital handbook was originally developed as a web application (WebApp) and subsequently expanded into an app for iOS and Android (MASon). MASon is intended to serve as the VAS's physical handbook, along with news about the association and important dates. It allows association members to access the most up-to-date information on personal protective equipment (PPE). Since the WebApp is fully responsive, it can be viewed via browser on PCs, Macs, tablets, and smartphones, or downloaded as an app. This important information is presented in the form of text, images, and videos. Furthermore, the association's magazine (M.A.S.) and current articles can now also be accessed via MASon.

The Challenge

In a dynamic and constantly evolving world, it was time to transform the traditional physical manual into a modern, digital format. The focus was on user-friendliness, making it as easy as possible for members to access the content. At the same time, great emphasis was placed on an engaging user experience, ensuring that the manual was not only functional but also inspiring and intuitive to use.

Our Solution

We developed a user-friendly and visually appealing app called MASon, available for iOS and Android as well as a web app. This platform allows users to easily access information on all aspects of workplace safety. A powerful backend gives MASon app administrators the ability to flexibly create and edit content. Posts can be directly integrated into the app and the associated website. The system also offers features such as creating calendar entries, sharing posts, running advertisements, and much more. This project is an impressive example of digital transformation and has been a resounding success – both in terms of functionality and user acceptance.

“Bytewood was the bridge between our analog thinking and digital reality. With the app, we didn't just digitize our content – we transformed our entire mindset.”

The main reason for the app was that our existing print media was often outdated almost as soon as it was distributed. For a long time, we didn't want to admit it, but it was obvious. At the same time, the costs for printed materials were quite high – all of which forced us to rethink our approach. With the app, we didn't just want to offer more up-to-date content, but generally take a digital step forward. It wasn't easy – initially, we lacked a clear structure on how to even prepare our content digitally. Bytewood was exactly the right partner for that. They didn't just support us technically; they helped us reorganize our content and our mindset from the ground up – moving away from the analog and toward something that truly makes sense digitally. The collaboration was a partnership of equals from the start. There were no off-the-shelf solutions, but rather a collaborative process in which we learned a lot and created something that genuinely works.
