Mamuz Museum Lower Austria

Interactive Medieval Stations

Since summer 2022, three interactive stations in the form of multiple touch monitors have been installed at the MAMUZ Museum Schloss Asparn/Zaya. Visitors can, for example, reconstruct a medieval church through simple interaction. To do this, they have to solve several mini-games and simultaneously learn how people built such churches in the past and what materials were needed.

Process

Task

The aim of this project was to present knowledge directly in the museum in an interactive and engaging way. The focus was on the medieval church and the construction process behind its building. To make this topic accessible to visitors of all ages, various interactive touchscreens were developed. These allowed users to actively engage with history and acquire new knowledge in a playful manner. In this way, the museum experience was made both informative and entertaining for young and old alike.

Solution

We have implemented 3 interactive and gamified touch screen projects   Medieval Game Players explore a medieval village and receive active support from the workers during the construction of the church. Furthermore, the builder provides them with valuable information about each construction step and the materials used. Quiz Match The museum also features two additional monitors that allow visitors to test their knowledge in a duel against friends and family. They can choose between two difficulty levels – Easy / Hard – and whoever answers the most questions correctly wins the duel! Period Classification Additionally, there is an interactive station where players can assign the museum exhibits they have seen to the correct historical period. These are randomly selected from a wide variety of possible objects, and players receive additional information about the exhibit if they answer correctly.
