Schlaining Castle
Schlaining Stations
We were commissioned to develop and implement numerous interactive stations for the exhibitions at Friedensburg Schlaining in Burgenland. The aim was to present historical, social, and cultural themes in a way that is both informative and entertaining. Multimedia installations were created throughout the castle complex, allowing visitors to playfully immerse themselves in the exhibition's content. From classic touch applications and digital learning games to elaborate augmented reality experiences, a diverse package was created that combines modern technology with in-depth content. ZONE Media and other well-known and exceptional companies have created a wonderful exhibition here in the heart of Burgenland.
Process
Task
The thematic range extended from the Nazi era in Burgenland and the history of the castle to Gerald Mader's peace work. For each of these exhibitions, it was essential to find individual approaches that were both academically convincing and emotionally engaging. At the same time, the exhibits had to be robust, intuitive to use, and suitable for use with school groups.

Solution
Together with the on-site exhibition team, we developed a variety of customized applications that underscore the individual character of each exhibition. These include classic touch solutions with text and image content, quizzes, matching games, and a memory game centered around the castle's heraldry. Particularly noteworthy are the interactive crossbow station, where users can shoot at digital targets, and an augmented reality station where, with a virtual sword, fruit is sliced in medieval style – inspired by popular game mechanics but embedded in a historical context. All applications were individually adapted in terms of content and technology to ensure the most intuitive, accessible, and sustainable use possible. The result is a modern exhibition experience that successfully combines learning, play, and discovery.
